In October 2018, Alfabeat participated in the acquisition of the Daily by the Finnish Wolt. Daily, which operates on the food delivery market, was one of the companies in which the fund invested in 2017. The application displays a list of nearby restaurants. After choosing a dish, the client can make an order and follow the stages of its realization.
By participating in the transaction, Alfabeat has become a shareholder in Wolt, one of the fastest growing food delivery companies in Europe. Such funds as EQT Ventures, Inventure, Lifeline Ventures, as well as the creator of Skype Niklas Zennström have also invested in the company.
The Internet food delivery market will grow by a dozen or so percent annually in the coming years, according to global forecasts. There are several companies in the world that offer food delivery services. In the United States these are, among others GrubHub or DoorDash. Biggest players in Europe are Deliveroo, UBEReats and Wolt.
The Wolt platform is already present in almost 40 cities in 13 countries of the Old Continent. The company cooperates with 2500 restaurants, 3000 thousand couriers and employs several hundred people. It is present in Poland since August.
